Writing Links -- Volume 58

Not much going on at our house this week, except for the constant complaining about the weather here in Michigan.

Not sure if I'll get much writing done this evening.  Tonight I'm scheduled to upgrade the family computer from XP to Windows 8.1.  I've reinstalled Windows enough times that it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but there's always the chance I'll run into a problem I haven't thought of yet. And when the rest of the family is standing around asking "How much longer?" even small problems can be a big deal.  Wish me luck!

Enjoy the writing links. And a Happy New Year to all of you!

P.S.  If you don't know where the "Lord" came from, check out the previous post.

  1. Thanks for these great links, CK. I read three of them, so far. There are so many great and informative posts available. Thank you.

  2. Good luck with Windows 8.1. At least it's not Windows 8.

  3. I installed a free "classic shell" to make windows 8.1 look and run like windows 7. Otherwise, I'd have thrown my newish laptop (last year's) into the chicken coop by now. Swiping is fine if you have a touch screen, but not so much if you don't. If you want to maintain Lord status, be ready with the shell before your peasants revolt.

  4. xp to windows 8.1 is a BIG step. Good luck! I've been really happy with my laptops (all win 7), and even bought another laptop to have as a back up because I didn't want to invest in office for the sixth time in ten years (I went through a rash of letting the magic smoke out of computers). Hopefully, you'll make it to the otherside unscathed.

  5. I hope you figured out your computer upgrades without any bumps. I'm usually the one standing over my husband's shoulder asking, "How much longer?" Ha! I'll be kinder to him next time.

  6. My son ordered some new components for my computer and is planning to upgrade my motherboard, cpu, etc. I'll be holding my breath or chanting those very same words today. Good luck :-)

Here's my link if you want to drop by :-)
